So how do you squash debate about COVID amongst politicians, simple only allow those that agree with the “narrative” to participate. Latvia has voted to ban politicians from voting on laws, debating bills in person or virtually, or receiving their salary if they refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccination. Simply put voters in Latvia who disagree with vaccine mandates no longer have anyone representing their point of view, sounds democratic to me.

Latvia is a Baltic nation that has a 100-member parliament known as the Saeima. They effectively barred elected lawmakers from having a voice in the nation’s laws. Even more surprising is that they enacted this new law by a 62-7 vote, crazy only 7 politicians were brave enough to see this for what it was, tyranny.

This new legislation took effect on Monday, November 15. So now, a legislator will be entitled to participate in the work of parliament only if he or she has presented an interoperable Covid-19 certificate confirming the fact of vaccination. They are to present this information to the body’s Mandate, Ethics, and Submissions Committee, according to a press release from the governing body. If you don’t’ have papers, you don’t have a say!

Juris Rancāns is the MP who the citizens of Latvia can thank for developing this new law. The Saeima paraphrased his statement saying that the law was necessary to promote public confidence in the country’s Covid-19 infection control policy and institutions, wouldn’t public confidence be a lot higher if the injections did what they were promised to do and there was open and transparent debate with respect to them. Oh wait, that’s what democracy is supposed to look like, my bad.

Rancāns is a part of the New Conservative Party. If there is a bright note in any of this, it’s that anyone choosing not to be vaccinated can present a certificate showing that they have recovered from COVID-19, can you say, “natural immunity”. In addition, they could also use an opinion from a specialist or council of a clinical university hospital that suggests the postponement of vaccination for medical reasons, a medical exemption. Of course, if you fall into either of these two categories, you will need to produce a negative COVID test. If you don’t fall into either of these camps and ae not willing to be injected, then you are shut out of legislative discussions, you would have no voice in shaping the nation’s laws either in terms of input or being able to vote on proposed laws.

Now the good folks in the Saeima figure that neutering your voice simply isn’t enough, they need to ensure that you cannot support you or your family financially, so any politician who doesn’t go along will also have their monthly salary and compensation will be suspended. Now I get it if you’re not working you shouldn’t be paid, however, it’s not by choice you’re choosing not to work, you’re being constructively dismissed.

This new law is set to remain in effect until July of 2022, but the president of the Saeima will reexamine the law at least every other month. Am I the only one thinking that the likelihood of them rescinding this and granting full privileges to those that lost them (the ones who felt this was wrong in the first place) is remote to none?

Euronews reported that this new measure would apply to local government lawmakers as well. There are a total of nine MPs who have refused and 62 local lawmakers who have yet to receive their certificate of vaccination, according to regional media.

There are some public health officials who have said they would support a similar measure in the United States now that vaccination rates have stalled, I’m sure there are, right Dr. Fauci?

Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding, an adjunct senior fellow at the Federation of American Scientists and previously a researcher at Harvard Medical School, tweeted this message: “Latvia bans unvaccinated lawmakers from voting in Parliament and in municipal councils. #whycantwebeLatvia?” He also noted that the move by Latvia was “bold.” Aren’t you glad that Dr. Eric isn’t running the world!

The move made by Latvia created a storm of international backlash from people across the political landscape. Max Blumenthal, a former Media Matters writer and the son of Clinton’s friend Sidney Blumenthal, challenged that it “might be only a matter of time before ordinary citizens also begin to lose their right to vote for not taking a state-mandated medical intervention.” You mean the “deplorables”, the ones who basically pay for the “ruling class” to remain the “ruling class”

Paul Oakley, a former spokesperson for the UK Independence Party said that if Covid fascists are coming for elected politicians, they will soon come for ordinary people, not sure where Paul has been, but they’ve already come. He warned that things are becoming very ugly and going to end very badly.
This legislation in Latvia coincides with a move to enact a “green code” this creates a two-tiered society between those with a vaccine passport and those without, and we all know from history that dividing citizens along any lines ends well for everyone, right?

Whether this will be coming to Canada in full force across all levels of government remains to be seen, but if you don’t’ want to see it here, you need to let politicians at every level of government know that you don’t. As I mentioned earlier if there is one “silver lining” in this story, it’s that at the very least, Latvia is listening to and following some of the science. If you’re not vaccinated but you’ve gotten (and recovered from COVID), that’s just as good. Why, natural immunity and antibodies!
