I consider Florida to be a control group when it comes to tackling Corona virus, after all they’re doing the opposite of what the experts recommend. They’re not masking, social distancing, lockdowns or forced injections, unlike every province in Canada. For the time being Florida appears to be holding steady on low hospitalization rates even while cases are increasing into the seasonal winter wave. In prior waves, increased hospitalizations have closely tracked increased cases, with a very short lag time in reporting. We are past that now. It appears, fingers crossed, that cases and hospitalizations may have “decoupled”, something we saw in South Africa and a sign of the holy grail of herd immunity.

Governor DeSantis told Fox News yesterday that Florida isn’t seeing the hospitalization rates that the northern states are experiencing. He stressed that Florida is NOT going to lock down or close anything and is going to keep emphasizing early treatment. For so called leaders elsewhere, pay attention as this is what true leadership looks like.

Now keep in mind that it’s still early, and things could still go “south”, but it’s starting to look like the winter wave could be categorically different from prior seasonal Covid waves. If it turns out it is, then Christmas came early for Governor DeSantis and his fellow Floridians.
