On Sunday, during his appearance on Face the Nation, former FDA commissioner and new Pfizer executive Scott Gottlieb said something that would have gotten him canceled and fired just a few months ago: cloth masks DON’T WORK. There was no “if, and’s or but’s” in what he said:

“Cloth masks aren’t going to provide a lot of protection. That’s the bottom line. This is an airborne illness. We now understand that. And, a cloth mask is not going to protect you from a virus that spreads through airborne transmission.”

You don’t say, welcome to the party Scott.

Well Scott, we’ve got ourselves a little conundrum now, don’t we? Based on what you’ve just said, this means that the Experts (you included I’m afraid) have either been lying the entire time or completely wrong about simple science! You know like the cloth masks, whilst encouraging us to wear them inside, outside, at the restaurant, at the park, on a bus, while having sex (I’m not kidding look up the guidelines by the province of BC), at breakfast, in the shower, in your car, morning, noon, and night, and since all of that medical performance theater has now turned out to have been completely useless, we are wondering why we should listen to ANY of your ideas now? Please don’t pander to us by saying “in a pandemic you do the best you can.” Really, that’s odd because Stephen Petty was talking about airborne viruses and mask failure over a year ago, in case you missed it I’ve attached a link in this post. But now you’ve come out with this revelation and start rambling on with the cloth mask nonsense like you had never heard him or anyone else that was saying the same thing over and over, masks don’t work. Maybe, like you could have looked it up sooner, like on the world wide web thingy?

So, hearkening back to the words of a real poet laureate, The Fonz, Scott “sit on it and rotate!”
