Before you read this post you may want to sit down, as it’s shocking. Okay now that you’re seated, a Reuters story this week is headlined, “Prior Covid infection more protective than vaccination during Delta surge -U.S. study.” The story attributes California and New York health officials (!) admitting that “natural immunity was a more potent shield than vaccines” against Delta. According to the study, people who’ve survived an infection had lower Covid rates than people who were vaccinated but are Covid naive. I know how could the possibly publish such dribble, easy, Narrative 2.0

But before you get too excited, keep in mind that with N 2.0 the powers that be cannot do a full mea culpa, instead it’s more of a course correction with the goal being that no fault or blame is ever prescribed to them. Supporting that, the story says infection PLUS injection is still the very best protection and quotes the CDC: “The evidence in this report does not change our vaccination recommendations,” said Dr. Ben Silk of the CDC. “We know that vaccination is still the safest way to protect yourself against COVID-19,” he said. So, there you have it, yeah sure you can have your natural immunity thingy, but the injections are still the “icing on the cake!”

Here's the new spin, “yes we told you to get injected and we know we originally promised you that if you did so, you would never get Covid but actually it’s really great you got Omicron. No, really, because now not only do you have the protection we provided you, but you’ve also got this new fandangle “natural immunity” so now like you have the “best” protection ever, platinum protection. It’s like you won the lotto, but instead of money, you get something even better, a weekend with Justin Trudeau, now that’s what “winning” feels like!
