In fantastic news, Florida’s new surgeon general, Joe Ladapo, previously acting under a temporary appointment, was permanently confirmed yesterday. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Dr. Ladapo, he is a member of America’s Frontline Doctors organization. Just think about what that means for a second. There is a state in the U.S. where the surgeon general is and has been an outspoken critic of how things have been handled when it comes to Covid. It proves that bold leaders such as DeSantis still exist, leaders who don’t do what’s easy but most importantly what’s right!

For those of you not familiar with how the U.S. system works, when a governor nominates someone to a post, there must be confirmation hearings. During these hearing elected officials from both parties (Democrats & Republicans) get to question the candidate. During the confirmation hearing, democrats asked Dr. Ladapo a variety of trick questions hoping to score political points and trip him up. For the most part from all accounts Dr. Ladapo handled the questions gracefully and effectively.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that the hearing was “contentious,” referring in part to Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book’s repeated questions for Ladapo to give a yes or no answer on whether vaccines are effective against Covid-19. The Sentinel reported that Ladapo declined to answer the question directly, explaining “‘Yes or no’ questions are not that easy to find in science.”

The Sentinel also whined about Ladapo’s failure “to endorse masks.” Apparently Ladapo said, triggering leftist reporters (basically all reporters) everywhere, that masks hadn’t been shown to have any significant effect of the spread of Covid. How dare he! The Sentinel’s reporters/medical doctors/researchers/know it alls indignantly countered that “most public health officials” say masks are an effective way to slow transmission.

Well, looks like the reporters have been spending more time being activists and less time actual reporters in search of the truth. For if they had they would know better (https://tinyurl.com/3x2cw7k4). I guess I can’t really blame them, making up the news is simply far easier than searching for and reporting it.

Displaying the maturity of two year old’s (with all due respect to 2 year olds) seeing they weren’t getting their way in the hearing, the democrats WALKED OUT and took their marbles with them, ultimately refusing participate in the vote. I was hoping like they would try holding their breath till they got their way, that would have been entertaining. Dr. Ladapo ultimately was confirmed unanimously, an impressive accomplishment in these fractious times. Go, Doc, go!

So, what exactly are the bona fides of the good doctor, well he’s Harvard-trained. As mentioned above, Dr. Ladapo is a member of America’s Frontline Doctors, which focuses on early treatment of Covid, and which has filed several lawsuits challenging the flawed vaccine science and otherwise supporting that archaic concept of civil rights. Dr. Ladapo signed the Great Barrington Declaration, which called for a focused protection approach instead of a mass vaccination policy.

You can imagine the impact that Ladapo’s appointment is having on the pro-narrative crowd, I’m sure it’s only going to get worse since now that he’s been confirmed, Ladapo can act with more freedom, and be bolder politically speaking.

In closing I have an ask of you, I want you to email Governor DeSantis and thank him for his leadership. I know we don’t live in Florida, however, I think it’s vital that we acknowledge leaders who are doing the right thing, no matter where they happen to be. This support and encouragement not only shows them they’re on the right side of history, but emboldens them to do even more, and ultimately this has a “ripple effect” on all of us.
