Proving that N2.0 is marching along; Johns Hopkins researchers published a study concluding that “lockdowns in the U.S. and Europe had little to no impact in reducing COVID-19 deaths.” The study is a meta-analysis of dozens of other studies, and determined that at best, early-2020 lockdowns may have reduced mortality by 0.2%. That’s two-tenths of one percent folks, statistically ZERO!

The researchers were clear that none of the interventions had any measurable impact, saying “We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality.” They left out masks, but hey a win's a win and we’ll take it anyway.

On the flip side, the researchers noted that the lockdowns caused “devastating effects” on the economy and other social metrics. “[Lockdown measures] have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy,” the researchers said. Nothing new to those of us who had any modicum of common sense!

Of course, keeping true to N2.0, we can’t blame government. Politicians relied on “public health experts” early in the pandemic, like those at the Imperial College of London, who confidently asserted that lockdown measures would reduce death rates by up to 98%.

But the Johns Hopkins researchers strongly rejected those clearly erroneous early predictions: “a standard benefit-cost calculation leads to a strong conclusion: Lockdowns should be rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy instrument.” So, call me crazy, but ultimately shouldn’t the government officials have sought out, other opinions? After all isn’t that their duty?

It might be time, sooner rather than later, when we will need to hold the public health experts accountable for what they did. That is going to be important, if not a paramount, element in ensuring that our children never ever have to suffer under the “tyranny of bad experts” ever again. However, friends, be vigilant and make sure you along with your friends don’t lose sight of the role of our elected officials in all of this madness as well. They utterly failed us, universally!
