The WHO has issued a new warning, this time regarding a scary new mutant variant of Omicron, XE, personally I prefer XI, might as well give credit where credit is due, right? The international body raised concern over the variant’s super-duper high levels of transmissibility making it “supremely contagious” and warning it could cause a new high risk Covid wave. This variant is, said to be, “ten times” more transmissible than Omicron, apparently. Not sure how they figured that out but knowing the track record of the “experts” it likely involves darts, a board and lots of ale.

So, is it time to break out the panic porn protection again? You know social distancing, masking, lockdowns, and bull riding, okay I made the last one up.

Well apparently, not, an article reporting the story in the Economic Times of India (link in the notes) noted that “the newest variant of coronavirus does not lead to any severe symptoms.” Well, that’s a relief but given the headlines the symptoms must still be pretty serious right? Well let’s see, the symptoms that are associated with this new variant are, “Headaches, sore throat, muscle soreness and fever.” I’m sure the medical names for these symptoms are far scarier.

On the upside, the good news if your Gordon Ramsey, variant XE doesn’t even cause loss of taste and smell.

So … in other words … the virus is continuing to do what was predicted from early in 2020, basically do what viruses in the past have done, which is to keep mutating to become more transmissible and less virulent, only a surprise and shock to the experts, I’m sure. Sorry I stand to be corrected, for some reason the corporate/legacy media is constantly surprised and shocked when this occurs as well.
