There was a new study published on ResearchGate this week titled, “Excess Mortality in Germany 2020-2022.” Believe it or not, it uses actuarial science to estimate how many all-cause deaths in 2020 to 2022 there would have been absent the pandemic. Then it compares the number of actual all-cause deaths with the no-pandemic figure, yielding the excess mortality in Germany for the pandemic years 2020 to 2022.

The researchers concluded and I quote:

“Something must have happened in April 2021 that led to a sudden and sustained increase in mortality in the age groups below 80 years, although no such effects on mortality had been observed during the COVID-19 pandemic so far.”

Something must have happened, yes something must have changed in April 2021. SOMETHING. Something so mysterious and baffling, and yet so elusive that the researchers can’t figure it out. Talk about a stumper, what could have happened in April 2021 that let to excess deaths of all those young Germans? In my quest to help the researchers I came up with a few possibilities myself, for instance maybe just maybe it was increased beer drinking, after all if you’ve had one too many you could easily drop that beer stein on your big toe, and next thing you know you bleed out.

Or maybe it could be an increase in sausage consumption, after all it takes is a nasty piece of meat getting stuck in the back of your throat, not so “wunderbar” or could it be a new kind of lederhosen, one that simply cuts off the circulation? Of course, those are specific to Germany, but I heard some rumblings that this unexplained phenomenon may also have occurred elsewhere. So, I dug into things deeper to see what else might have caused this.

Continuing in my quest to solve this mystery, I got to thinking maybe it was the movies that came out in April 2021, might be something sinister about them, check out these titles:

Mortal Kombat
Killer Among Us
Thunder Force

Yes, certainly could be that, right?

Or maybe it had something to do with the music that was released in April 2021, so when I dug further, I found this album:

A Diabolic Thirst put out by Spectral Wound, sounds kinda dangerous no?

Alas maybe we’ll never know, after all corporate media has their hands full covering stories such as: these ones, The Guardian recently ran “Dance like no one’s watching – and six more ways to recapture childhood fun.” Now, not to be outdone in the name of investigative journalism, I ran across another online site, helping it’s readers dealing with this serious issue, “How to Handle Office Gossip…When it’s About You”

We’ll probably never ever know, it’s like “Bigfoot” or the “Lochness Monster”, a conundrum to occupy the ages. Maybe if corporate media weren’t so stretched from already covering deep and compelling issues, just maybe, we could solve this perplexing mystery!
